Miss Main

Shwmae pawb! Miss Main ydw i. Dw i’n dysgu blwyddyn 6 gyda Miss Thomas, Mrs Herbert a Miss Ridout.

I was a student teacher at George Street during my PGCE with Swansea University and was very fortunate to be offered a permanent role here following its successful completion in 2017. 7 years later… I am still here and have had the privilege of working with numerous children, across a range of different year groups. This is my second consecutive year teaching year 6 and I cannot wait to see what this year entails!

As well as class teacher, I am also responsible for the development of Welsh language throughout our school and its incorporation across the curriculum. I have a huge adoration for both our Welsh language and culture and feel it vital that our children learn about their heritage. Back in 2021, I was fortunate enough to obtain a place on the ‘Cymraeg mewn Blwyddyn’ course (Welsh in a year) at Cardiff University. The course aims to increase the number of practitioners who can teach through the medium of Welsh and bilingualism.

Having successfully graduated from the course, I returned to George Street in September 2022, being somewhat fluent in Welsh. Since, I have had the pleasure of working alongside the EAS, developing Cwricwlwm Cymraeg both at George Street and across our local authorities; embracing the language as much as possible!

I thoroughly enjoy working at George Street, predominately due to the incredible pupils and fantastic community feel. Our dedicated staff work together tirelessly to ensure everyone thrives in a positive working environment.

In my spare time, I love socialising with my friends; usually in a cute coffee shop with a cappuccino and carrot cake. Likewise, I am a keen photographer with an adoration for sunsets – coastal walks at dusk are one of my favourite pastimes during half-term (weather permitting!)

As a side note, please remember my door is always open. Please do not hesitate to pop in for chat. If you have any questions or queries, I will do all I can to help.
