Mrs Lloyd

Hi, I am Mrs Lloyd! I have been working at George Street since 2011. This year I am part of the Mathematics and Numeracy team as I am currently the Mathematics coordinator.

During my time at George Street I have had the opportunity of working in both Foundation phase and KS2. Presently I am working in Year 5. I am very excited about working in Year 5 for another year.

I really enjoy encouraging our children to build upon their previous skills. I enjoy using different strategies to help them overcome any challenges on the way. I am also very passionate about challenging all pupils, which will allow them all to reach their full potential.

I have been a student teacher mentor for more than 10 years and I am passionate about sharing good practise and helping others to become the best teachers they can be. Some of my previous student are now teachers at George Street. I really look forward to supporting and guiding many more student teachers in the future.

This year I will also continue in my role as a Teacher Governor. I enjoy sitting on the board and helping to support and contribute to further improving our school.

Singing is huge passion of mine and I am very privileged to be the leader of our fantastic choir. They have performed regularly in our local community over the past 2 years and will continue this year. Some of the events we have attended have been a Christmas concert at the Salvation army, performing at St Cadocs festival of choirs and participating in the Pontypool Eisteddfod as well at performing in Westmonmouth school and Pontypool indoor market. They have grown in confidence over the years and have achieved great things, such as a first place in the Pontypool Eisteddfod 2024. Due to this achievement they will now be performing with Torfaen Male voice choir this year in October.

Welsh is another big passion of mine. I believe it’s vital for our children to develop and embrace the Welsh language and culture. I believe this can be done through fun exciting activities and games. Welsh is taught and spoken incidentally by staff throughout the school day. I really enjoy helping to organise our annual Eisteddfod in school and attending Pontypool Eisteddfod which celebrates all things Welsh.

In my spare time I enjoy cycling and going on long walks with my husband and my three children. I have a dog who also enjoys our long walks. I absolutely love all animals and the outdoors.
