Mrs Manley
George Street has been a huge part of my life for a very long time; I attended the school as a child many years ago. It is now an absolute privilege being the headteacher of a school which means so much to me. Working with our fantastic children and our dedicated team of staff and governors makes my job very rewarding.
As headteacher, it is my aim to ensure George Street is at the heart of our community, working closely with our families and inviting you to school as much as possible. I also aim to nurture and sustain the positive and supportive atmosphere within school, making sure all children are valued so they can achieve all they can. I believe that every child matters and everyday counts.
After having experience teaching Nursery to Year 6 during my time as a class teacher, I am now honoured to be able to visit all year groups throughout the week. Celebrating the achievements of all children is something I am very passionate about and truly believe that listening to the voices of our children will make for an exciting and authentic education.
Being part of the community myself, you may see me around our local area or at Pontypool Park as well as at school open events or at the school gates during the week to greet our pupils and families so do please say hello.
When not in work, I am kept very busy by my three children. I am a ‘dance mum’ during the evenings (my two daughters are the dancers) and have gained the title of ‘Mum’s Taxi’. I am also a rugby mum on the weekends and enjoy supporting my son and his teammates. To relax, I love to read.
